Onegai-shimasu Hanshi, Kyoshi and Fellow Deshi,
This past weekend I had the privilege of attending our Ueshiro Shorin Ryu Florida Karate Weekend. The Friday evening class was held at the Ueshiro Viera Dojo and conducted by Kyoshi David Baker.
At the outset of the class Kyoshi Baker provided instruction on the proper technique for bowing. Kyoshi demonstrated the bow and then he counted numerous times as we repeated the bow as instructed.
At that point Hanshi emphasized that the best way to learn something is through:
(a) repetition, repetition and more repetition, and
(b) instructing someone else.
We should all strive to apply this guidance both inside and outside the dojo over the years to come.
